Monday:
Our adventure kicked off on Monday when we met our exchange partners in Spandau. Some of us started our time together with a visit to the fascinating video game museum – a dream come true for all the gamers among us! After that, we got creative in the kitchen and made our own burgers, which was both fun and delicious. Later, we took the dog for a walk and played some video games together. Some of us went on a relaxing kayak tour followed by a tasty pasta dinner. We got back home around 9:30 p.m., tired but super happy.
Tuesday:
Tuesday was our first day at school. We played some fun introduction games that helped us get to know each other better – and yes, there was chocolate involved! The atmosphere was great, everyone was friendly, and even though the lunch was just okay, we had a good time. In the afternoon we went on a bus ride which was long but full of interesting facts about Berlin.
Wednesday:
On Wednesday, we met at Alexanderplatz at 9:15 a.m. and headed to the Humboldt Forum with our group. The guided tour was super interesting – we learned a lot about Berlin’s history and its global connections. The exhibition was really interactive, which made it even more engaging. After that, we went to an Italian restaurant for some delicious pizza and pasta. We then walked to Bernauer Straße, where we had an interesting tour and learned about the ghost stations during the Berlin Wall era. Some of us even visited David Bowie’s former apartment afterward – a cool bonus for music lovers!
Thursday:
Thursday took us to the magnificent Berlin Cathedral. We had time to explore the inside and then climbed to the top of the tallest tower. Unfortunately it was foggy so the view wasn’t great. From there, we walked to Potsdamer Platz, stopping by some important landmarks like the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Later, we explored the interactive and fun Deutschland Museum, where we were split into teams and ended the tour with a little quiz challenge. For lunch, we headed to the Mall of Berlin, where everyone could choose exactly what they wanted to eat.
Friday:
Friday came way too quickly! We met at school for a feedback session and played a few games to wrap things up. Then came the hardest part: saying goodbye to our exchange students from Poland and Finland. Luckily, it wasn’t a final farewell – we’re already looking forward to seeing each other again in May!
